Anna Kosa

Anna is an accomplished litigator with a broad and diverse practice, specializing in civil litigation and bankruptcy/insolvency matters. Originally from the Cowichan Valley, Anna spent over five years at a national firm in Calgary, Alberta, before joining Heath Law LLP in March 2025. She has extensive experience in commercial litigation, handling a wide range of disputes including fraud, landlord/tenant issues, corporate insolvency, personal injury, insurance defense, contract disputes, construction law, debt collection, foreclosures, and product liability. Anna has appeared before various courts and decision-making bodies, including the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Court of King’s Bench, and the Alberta Court of Appeal. She also has experience with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) and the Alberta Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service.

Anna graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in 2019. During her studies, she participated in an exchange program in Graz, Austria, and was deeply involved in extracurricular activities. She served as President of Level, a human rights club, and contributed to the school’s pro bono program. Anna also conducted interdisciplinary research on the legal implications of food insecurity in Canada’s Arctic, which she presented at the 2017 Polar Law Symposium in Rovaniemi, Finland. In addition, she has spoken at several events, including at her almae matres, Colgate University, on the impact of learning a new language at university, and at Brentwood College School on the United Nations’ response to the 2015 Nepal earthquake.

Before law school, Anna earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Colgate University in New York, where she received multiple academic honors, including the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence and the Award for Excellence in Italian Studies. In 2015, she worked as the Peacebuilding Communication and Knowledge Management Officer at the United Nations Development Programme in Kathmandu, Nepal, assisting in negotiations around the country’s constitution and disaster response efforts following the earthquake. Afterward, she worked as a Communications Coordinator at the Cambodian Children’s Trust, where she contributed to research and proposal development for key humanitarian initiatives.

In addition to her fluency in English, Anna is proficient in Italian. With her global perspective and extensive legal experience, Anna is a highly versatile and effective advocate for her clients.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her miniature dachshund, Ginny, and exploring the many wonders of Vancouver Island.
